How To Make Change is back!

After a successful pilot, we’re delighted to bring back How To Make Change - an intergenerational training course designed to help people of all ages create change in their communities.

What is How To Make Change?

How To Make Change is a 10 month course for people of all ages (0-100+!) on changemaking, covering topics such as power, how to run good meetings and conflict resolution. Sessions take place in Brixton once a month and you can find out more (including the address and sign up details) on Eventbrite.

This programme is delivered in partnership with The Advocacy Academy, a youth organising movement that trains young people from South London in the skills needed to change the world around them. Last year was our first year of running the programme and we’re excited to be back for a second year.

We’re really grateful to have this partnership with The Advocacy Academy. It’s an example of two charities with different strengths and a different knowledge base coming together to explore a new kind of programme. It’s been a real journey of learning and understanding how we can intentionally create more opportunities for intergenerational community organising.

Do I need previous experience?

You don’t need any knowledge or experience to get involved in How To Make Change - just come with an open mind and a willingness to get stuck in.

If you’d like to learn more about what to expect, why not listen to the Intergenerational Changemaking Podcast? Made in collaboration with Amplify Us, participants of the How To Make Change pilot reflected on the joys, challenges, and lessons of intergenerational changemaking.

We’re living in a period where everything feels hopeless. This was a feeling people across the generations could resonate with. I could feel the difference from the start of the How To Make Change sessions and the end. Once we’d spent a couple of hours together we became energised because we’d learnt not just the tools to create change, but also built connections too.
