Our vision is a future where generations can come together in a connected and inclusive society.

For us, intergenerational activities aren’t just a ‘nice to have’, they’re essential. They improve our social health and help us relate to people that are different from us.

With ageism recognised as one of the most widespread forms of discrimination in the UK (see Age Without Limits for more), there has never been a more pressing time to bring generations together.

Since 2017, we have connected more than 50 retirement homes and schools and helped more than 2,900 people build friendships with someone from a different generation.

what we do

We create opportunities for young people and older people to connect in their communities. We do this via our three main programmes: Connect, Social Action and Empower.

our impact

We are proud of what we’ve achieved so far. Read our latest Annual Report to find out more about the impact of our intergenerational programmes.

our team

We’re a small (but mighty!) team based in East London. We’re always interested in collaboration so please do get in touch if you’d like to work together.

Our values

Making a meaningful contribution to the world around us drives everything we do at InCommon. We believe that we all have lots to give and that everyone, of every age, should have opportunities to make a difference in their communities.

We all need a little delight in our lives, whether that’s receiving a thoughtful message or experiencing something special together. We want our work to feel delightful for everyone taking part.

Learning enriches life, at every age. We believe in being open to feedback and discovering new things around us, and we hope that everyone learns something new through our work.

We love collaborating with others and believe that everyone has something to bring to the table. Working across the generations brings people with different experiences and perspectives together - and it’s fun, too!

It’s really important to us that no one gets left out. We work hard to remove barriers to accessing our work, from our programmes to our recruitment processes.  We aspire to support everyone, of every age, to take part as much as they can.
