We’re excited to share that InCommon have been working with Cambridge City Council, along with other community partners, to deliver an innovative and creative intergenerational project that boosts wellbeing and improves health outcomes for older people. The project has learning and collaboration at its core and is delivered in partnership with stakeholders across the voluntary, statutory and community sector.
InCommon have been supporting the Cambridge-based project since September by offering guidance on all things intergenerational, from recruiting younger participants to providing training on intergenerational best practice.
From next week, we’ll be delivering a series of training webinars with Cambridge CVS, which are open for all to attend. Please do share the details with anyone you think might be interested.
Session 1: Tuesday 20 May, 12 noon-1pm: How to deliver an intergenerational project (InCommon and Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service). Register via Eventbrite.
Session 2: Wednesday 21 May, 1-2pm: How to make your intergenerational project safe, inclusive and accessible (InCommon). Register via Eventbrite.
Session 3: Wednesday 11 June, 11am-12 noon: Supporting young volunteers (Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service). Register via Eventbrite.
Here’s what our Programmes & Partnerships Lead, Sarena said about the partnership:
“It’s been fantastic trialling a new way of working with Cambridge Council on a systems change project that centres intergenerational practice as a solution to reduce frailty in older adults, while building connections between older and younger people across the city.
Partnering with the Cambridge Council for Voluntary Service, the Active Lifestyles team, the Independent Living Service, and creative organisations across Cambridge has enabled us to learn from others—and to feel proud of InCommon’s expertise in helping to develop high-quality intergenerational practice through the project.”
If you’d like to learn more about the project please get in touch with our Programmes Team at programmes@incommon.org.uk. We look forward to sharing more work about this exciting partnership soon!
